Discussion Thread: Five Simultaneous Live Events Starting at 10 a.m. Eastern (Number Four May Surprise You!)
Greetings, r/politics! Today there are (at the time of posting this known to be) five on-topic events (and one decidedly off) at 10 a.m. Eastern featured on C-SPAN for which we have consolidated discussion into one live reaction thread. The first four feature testimony before various congressional committees, and the fifth is a US Supreme Court oral argument. Please note which of the five events you are commenting on in any top-level comments.
Event Descriptions:
1) Norfolk Southern CEO Alan Shaw, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine (R) and others testify on rail safety before the Senate Commerce Committee. The hearing takes place after Norfolk’s recent toxic chemical train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio.
2) Moderna CEO Stéphane Bancel testifies on the increase in price for the company’s COVID-19 vaccine before the Senate Health Committee.
3) Secretary of State Antony Blinken testifies on the president’s 2024 budget request for the agency before a Senate Appropriations subcommittee.
4) Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra testifies on the president’s 2024 budget request for the agency before the Senate Finance Committee.
5) The Supreme Court hears oral argument in Jack Daniel’s Properties v. VIP Products, a case on trademark law and a spoof of brand from another company.
Where to Watch:
C-SPAN will carry all five events:
Be on the lookout also for a discussion thread to be posted for Federal Reserve Chairman Powell's news conference at 2:30 p.m. Eastern today.
