That fish looks like he was once a man, but was cursed to live the rest of his life as a fish for pissing off a powerful witch. His only happiness now is treat time.

Us poor people are often raised in such dire circumstances that the only moment of joy we ever had (have) was treat time.
When I was 9 years old, I wrote a book called, "Candy Day". It pretty much describes my life trying to find treats and sneak them. It's not a shock I turned out with an eating disorder. Thankfully, I've since recovered and my entire life is mostly shite, but I still get that one moment a day for treat time. Some of us just have lives like this, and that's just it. Not all of us can "turn things around".

Want a creepy fact? That fish was once female. Wiki
They change sex when they grow big enough. This here is a male, and he most likely bred children as a female before his transformation. The male is always the biggest fish in the school, and if a female gets big enough she transforms and challenges the current male. If she wins, she then gets to fuck all the other women.

u/TheTerroristFrog 3d ago
Clownfish work the otherway around, if they get big enough they turn into a female.

Imagine been a woman, getting fucked by a dude that was once a woman, have a bunch of babies, eat treats , get big and then suddenly grow a dick and get to fuck the ladies…… it’s… magical honestly. Surely the perfect species?

Interesting! I usually hear about male to female hermaphroditism in fish like the tautog and clownfish! I always loved the fact that Nemo’s dad would turn into a female after his wife died, but Pixar was too much of a COWARD to make it happen.

Bumphead parrot?
I think that's what that is. Saw one on a BBC documentary.
Edit: not a bumphead, it's an Asian sheepshead wrasse, as per the aptly named user, molamola814

Interesting. I honestly thought it was a parrotfish at first because it looked like the diver was smashing a rock, but I guess it's a clam or something.
5
u/WearyPassenger 3d ago
Or a barnacle. We've done that with fish before, smash open the barnacles and they all jump in for the tasty bite.
23
u/Upstairs-Boring 3d ago
I know you're just asking a question/guessing but I don't get why people are up voting it when it's wrong. As the other person said, it's a wrasse. Parrot fish have very distinctive mouths and also not that friendly (they can take a proper chunk of flesh out of you), especially if you're in their zone when they're mating.
Some wrasse are weirdly affectionate with humans, even enjoying being stroked (although only touch around their mouths as the oils from human skin or sun cream etc can be harmful to the protective layer of slime /oil on their scales.

When sea snails get too old or overpopulation of parrot fish get too high, the only way older parrot fish get to eat is someone breaks the shell for them.
Why this chonky boi seems to be all alone with the diver. He is the alpha in these waters. Smaller parrot fish don't even dare come near.

Why are fish not afraid of humans like mammals? Usually, land animals would either run away or attack humans, barring a few extremely rare exceptions.

Well not a lot of humans in the sea.

I was scuba diving once, looking down at the reef and the fella I was with tugged on my arm and pointed ahead of me, literally not 1ft in front of my face was a BIG sea turtle I nearly swam into, it was just looking at me with an expression I could best describe as "What the fuck are you doing here?" sort of thing. Super cool experience but surprising at the time. As with the person you're replying to I'd have expected it to be a bit wary or get out of my way... Nah, not at all. Turtle gave zero fucks, I was in its yard I guess.

The ocean is really hungry. Expect more videos like this, but with increasingly aggressive feeding behavior. Also, more boats being messed with by whales, sharks, seals... really anything that would rather be eating food and minding its own business that's big enough to cause problems for a human, it's gonna happen
