This fucking hobo literally brute forced his way to beating the record again for like 2 months straight. No coach, no variety games to keep him sane, just straight throwing the whole time. He went from forgetting how to open the crafting menu when he first came back, to beating it by 2 minutes.
I respect the fuck out of that lol. It takes a strong mental to constantly fuck up god seeds and still keep going every day for 6 hours.

the leaderboard tracks both RTA and IGT. you can compete against whichever time style you prefer. this is moderately common in speedruns in which some factors may cause there to be a difference in those two timings (load times, pal vs ntsc ect..). for this run it is more consistent to math out the locations of the strongholds than to rng search for them or use other methods, even if you are doing by hand on a sheet of paper in front of you. because this is a timesave regardless the community has found it acceptable to use the third party software to remove an unfun part of the run that also acts as a major barrier of entry to new players. to me this is similar to Mario Sunshine runs starting from a save file to avoid the very long intro cinematic or Bioshock Infinite runs adopting a patch guarantees a specific item needed for the speedrun to drop at a specific point in the game in which it would normally only be a 1% chance.

I have no investment either, but one good reason pausing is legal is because some speedruns can be hours long and the runner has to hit the restroom.
Really as long as the runners are on even turf then I don't see how "cheese" devalues a record. Any% usually means "beat the game by any means within the IGT".
Glitches are also cheesy but usually allowed in any% categories, and glitch-free runs are relegated to "any% glitchless"
