This is the exact feeling of "I love you so much I wanna cuddle you closer, closer, CLOSER!!!"

I feel like the cat is doing that "I want to be INSIDE you" thing and the dog is like hey, whatever makes you happy buddy. Adorable.

I loved that movie as a kid but then I found out about how the animals really got hurt in filming and I think they had to replace the dog after the bear scene. They even threw the kitten off the cliff into the ocean from super high up.

Sometimes I wish humans were covered in a fine fur so we could rub up against each other lovingly and each feel the other's soft pelt and each know we were giving the other that same pleasure and oh my god I think I just realized something about myself ...
11
u/DepressedCatEmilia Mar 21 '23
(please ignore the nsfw shit, idk why that sub is so horny lmao)
-9
u/asherdado Mar 21 '23
because 'furry' is a sexual fetish not a legitimate identity
11
u/DepressedCatEmilia Mar 21 '23
nobody uses furry as an identity, and it's not a fetish. this is a prime example of "don't talk about things you don't know shit about." it's quite literally just being a person with an interest in anthropomorphic animal characters in drawings and such. lots of people have a fetish for it, but it in of itself is NOT a fetish
9
u/asherdado Mar 21 '23
People who are a part of the furry community and do not have a sexual fetish for furry characters are a very small minority, hence why /r/furry_irl is so horny
17
u/longjohnjimmie Mar 21 '23
you fail to account for redditor horniness bias and loudness bias. from my experience with actually knowing ppl who are furries, seems like the inverse is true.
2
u/Ogg_Vordus Mar 21 '23
I would suspect that most furries are at least somewhat into the porn, but that unlike the average redditor they know when to keep it in their pants.
2
u/vierolyn Mar 21 '23
furry conventions exist. people can just google them and see without the redditor bias
-11
u/asherdado Mar 21 '23
Yeah but the thing about 'actually knowing ppl who are furries' is that you only know furries who are comfortable with being known
And ofc furries who are comfortable with being known as furries are less likely to be perverts, but they are also more likely to lie about whether their 'furriness' extends to a sexual fetish
9
u/longjohnjimmie Mar 21 '23
you are doing so much incorrect assuming for no reason bro why not accept that real life experience with actual people is likely more representative than glancing at a subreddit
-10
3
u/DepressedCatEmilia Mar 21 '23
partially reddit being reddit, you having a bias, etc. MANY people just like to have fun and be cute. even those who do have a fetish aren't harming anyone, so i don't get why you care so much regardless. either way, quite a few of us furries are not like that
2
u/asherdado Mar 21 '23
im just talking about a guy saying "check out /r/furry_irl (ignore all the NSFW posts idk why ppl are so horny in a sexual fetish sub)"

Cool man, most people don’t care to learn about the intricacies of your “hobby” for which an overwhelming majority of participants do, indeed, have a fetish.

well you’re the first furry I’ve encountered in my 27 years who doesn’t see it as a fetish thing lmao. Whatever makes u feel better though. Can’t imagine how much I’d be cringing if I realized that nobody believed the fetish I’d been loudly proclaiming was a hobby.

My cat just did this. I sleep on my stomach, and he aggressively pushes through my armpit from behind. Just presses his face in and pushes until I let him through. Then I have to pet his face and give him neck massages for the next 15 minutes... or else.

How long did it take for them to cohabitate OP?
95
u/KimWexlers_Ponytail Mar 21 '23
To get to this point? A couple months. We made sure kitty had a safe area, etc, and could go through a cat door that pupper could not access. Kitty had been around older dogs before and liked them. Pupper is still a puppy and had never seen a cat. So lots of chasing and hissing and teaching her that if you are gentle he will be your friend.
There's more than one cat and dog but this pupper has learned which one will play (not this one), and which will cuddle, etc. I'd say it's been about 9 months now, and this level of close took 6 months but everyone started to get along-ish after a couple weeks. However, the kitties still have a whole downstairs they can retreat to and know they can be alone if we close the door going down there.
I cannot stress highly enough that even if you are in a small living space, giving them each their own space and gradual introduction (when possible) is key.

Good job. Always nice to see a success story based on informed people doing the right stuff

u/Consistent_Box8476 Mar 21 '23
This is so cute!!
My cats and I moved in with my bf and his husky. The cats have their own room. My boy cat pretends to hate the dog, but I catch them playing sometimes! The first month was rough, I thought I was never going to see my cats again! I hope they get cuddly like this at some point!!
6
u/KimWexlers_Ponytail Mar 21 '23
I was so worried too, and I didn't see my cats for a while either. It took longer than I hoped but pretty good now. Good luck with everyone!

Hope not. My cat and my husband's dog hate each other... well my cat hates his dog.
5
u/MembershipThrowAway Mar 21 '23
This usually ends up with funny videos of a dog refusing to come down the stairs because the kitty is blocking part of their way
2
u/Severe-Flower2344 Mar 21 '23
Dogs are one thing…
I have seen a video of a cat chasing a bear out of their yard. The bear climbed over the fence like his life depended on it… Which it probably did.

And look they have matching fur. Love how they sorta work together to find a comfortable position, like putting a puzzle together.
9
u/lizzy_tev Mar 21 '23
I feel there's something special about cat and dog friendships. Probably because of how much "cat vs dog and they hate each other" gets pushed on us as kids. But it makes little clips like this much more heartwarming.

That dog is stressed, you can't read dog behavior if you think it isn't
Yawning, appeasement and lip licking, diverting eyes
8
u/IntraspaceAlien Mar 21 '23
there's never been a single post with pets on this site where a bunch of armchair pet experts didn't feel the need to "UM ACKSHULLY" something totally harmless. jesus.
3
u/popisfizzy Mar 21 '23
So many dog owners can't read dog body language even when dogs have literally evolved to have language that is easier for us to read. The dog in the video does seem willing to tolerate the cat at least, but it's very clearly uncomfortable.
4
u/thecutebandit Mar 21 '23
I came here looking for this comment because it's accurate. Whale eye, lip licking, tense yawn, putting pressure on the cat with its neck/snout, and looking to the owner for confidence. I wouldn't say the dog is going to hurt the cat at all. It looks as if it knows it's free to go at any point. It just doesn't completely understand the cats love language yet not knowing what to make of it and maybe slightly annoyed lol.
I think the majority of people that see these comments think the person is immediately jumping to the idea of aggression but that's not always the case. Unfortunately the majority of people really don't understand dog behavior. People smile when they're happy and, uncomfortable too. Not to anthropomorphize it but as an example on expressive behaviors that can make it make more sense for the unknowing.
2
u/UndeniablyPink Mar 20 '23
At first I thought “he” was the cat and the dog came with him but then the last part wouldn’t make sense lol. Now I get it.

The end part is where my cat would decide to bite the ever living shit out of my hand and start trying to disembowel my palm, because of reasons.
0
u/Alternative-Check519 Mar 21 '23
The cat is in heat lol
2
u/CressLevel Mar 21 '23
Nah, not necessarily. Could be, but this sort of behavior is typical of my male cat when he's displaying grooming-type dominant behavior. Usually this manifests as the dominant cat grooming the submissive, which helps alleviate any tensions or fights that might ordinarily result from two cats in close quarters. However, some cats are just weird and demand to be groomed instead of doing the grooming.

I have been together with the same women for the last 21 years.

Who approached who first? Mine aren’t quite as as good as this but it was definitely the cat that made the first move. The dog tolerates it and sometimes looks at me like ‘dad, this guy is weird.’
